25 youth participated by cycling for 10 days covering 234km from Anuradhapura to Colombo. It was the first ever climate change awareness programme conducted while cycling.

Participation was more than 200 youth from different youth groups, societies, communities’ universities and schools representing Buddhist, Hindu, Christian and Islam religions.  It was a one day journey by foot visiting all four main religious institutions in Colombo to learn more about how religion and climate change interconnects.

Mihimadale-hithethiyo

Mihimadale Hithethiyo 2017

“Mihimadale Hithethiyo 2017” was a 2 day residential Youth Camp which focused on “Climate Change and Green Leadership” conducted by ECO-V. This was held on 6th and 7th of May at Sarvodaya Institute of Higher Learning, Bandaragama with 25 participants.

his project focused on creating young green leaders to combat the effects of climate change and promote environmental awareness. This diverse group of thirty youth were chosen from a vast pool of applicants, from all parts of Sri Lanka, and from many religious backgrounds; Buddhists, Hindus, Muslims, and Christians. For 9 days, after the commencement of the programme, these youth cycled their way from Kilinochchi to Vavuniya (Vavuniya District), gathering a multitude of skills and knowledge throughout the journey.
